Burke O'Neil LLC (initially Burke Pyle LLC) was formed in August 2005.

In March 2006, William O'Neil, a former colleague from Susan’s Covington & Burling years, joined the firm as a partner. Bill had spent many years litigating insurance coverage matters at Swidler and Berlin in Washington D.C. Bill heads up the firm’s office in Washington D.C.

In January 2007, Elizabeth Burke, a University of Virginia law graduate who spent her formative professional years with Cleary Gottlieb (and Susan’s sister), joined the firm as a partner. She spends the majority of her time in the Charlottesville, Virginia office, working primarily on the firm’s human rights work and white collar investigations.
